Singapore’s 2025 Cash Boost: Extra Money When People Need It Most Imagine finding extra cash in your bank account right when holiday expenses and increasing costs are squeezing your budget hardest. In 2025 millions of Singaporeans experienced exactly this when the government rolled out expanded financial support to ease cost-of-living pressures and mark the nation’s 60th birthday.

An Enhanced Assurance Package: At the Core of It

The government has significantly expanded the Assurance Package in the 2025 Budget according to Prime Minister Wong’s announcement on February 18. This multi-year program was initially created to help offset GST increases but now includes an additional S$1.2 billion for cash payments & vouchers & rebates and account top-ups for households. The package provides graduated cash payments to Singapore citizens aged 21 and older from 2022 through 2026. The 2025 payments will vary based on whether recipients own property and their income levels.

SG60 Special Vouchers

Singapore marked its 60th year of independence in 2025 with the SG60 benefits program. All Singaporean citizens aged 21 and above received vouchers worth $600 for those between 21 and 59 years old & $800 for senior citizens aged 60 and above. These vouchers became available for use starting July 2025 and could be spent on everyday expenses. Seniors also had the option to transfer their vouchers to younger family members if they wished. Eligible HDB households received double the usual U-Save rebates in 2025 with a total of up to $760 for the year. The government distributed these rebates every three months to help residents manage their increasing utility costs. The government also provided additional one-time U-Save support to more qualifying households to ease the cost of living. Children & elderly citizens received extra MediSave contributions to strengthen their healthcare savings accounts.
